Since 1984 when he started the firm, Mr. Woolley has been a principal of Stephen Woolley and Associates, Architects in Venice, California. He is a recognized planner of complex projects involving innovative designs within strict schedules, budgets, and corporate standards; coordinator of diverse user groups and professional consultants; and skilled administrator of a fully automated design office. Before forming SWA, he was a principal in Tyler & Woolley, Architects. He was formerly associated with Craig Ellwood Associates, and Pulliam and Matthews Associates.
Mr. Woolley was the project architect for the Art Center College of Design campus in Pasadena. His new building designs include Artec Centre in Manhattan Beach, the Zukor Building on the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood, and the PUENTE Learning Center buildings in East Los Angeles and South Los Angeles. Mr. Woolley has been responsible for a variety of design packages including a corporate televideo conferencing network involving aesthetic and technical components; the consolidation of multiple leaseholdings for a major corporation; mainframe computer center installations; and structural retrofitting of manufacturing/lab facilities. His list of repeat clients includes ARCO, Hughes Aircraft, Rockwell Rocketdyne and Xerox Corporation. Mr. Woolley’s special interests include computer technology and continuing education. He keeps abreast of progressive change in both his profession and in the larger Los Angeles community. Under direction SWA was one of the first architectural firms to fully convert to the use of computer aidedhis design (CAD). He has also helped people in the inner city advance their education and training with state-of-the-art computer and communications systems by serving as chairman of the board of directors of the not-for-profit PUENTE Learning Center.
